BEFORE HIRING A LAWYER MAKE SURE THEY ARE LICENSED TO PRACTICE IN LOUISIANA

Even good lawyers can make mistakes in handling asbestos cases in Louisiana. But out of state Lawyers are much more likely to make mistakes because they do not understand our unique Civilian System and they don’t understand the law that controls asbestos cases in Louisiana. Choosing a lawyer to handle your asbestos case is a serious decision and not all lawyers have the experience and background in Louisiana law and asbestos litigation that is required to successfully prosecute your case.

Before choosing an attorney ask them if they understand Louisiana’s Civil Law system. Further ask them if they have a license in Louisiana.

Because if they don’t have a Louisiana Law License, it means they don’t understand Louisiana law and they are therefore unfamiliar with our unique system and how the law applies to asbestos cases.

If you or a loved one has been diagnosed with mesothelioma choose your lawyer carefully. Before hiring anyone make sure they are licensed to practice law in Louisiana and that they have experience prosecuting mesothelioma cases in Louisiana courts.

WHY YOU SHOULD CHOOSE A LOUISIANA LAWYER

Simply stated: Louisiana law is unique.

In Louisiana, we have a civil code. Our civil code dates back several centuries to what is called the Napoleonic Code. It’s been changed somewhat over the years, but in essence, it’s still the same Code that was written during the time of Napoleon Bonaparte.

No other state, not Texas, not New York, not Mississippi, has the Civil Code or the Civilian Legal System. To practice law in Louisiana courtrooms you must study our unique system of law and pass a comprehensive exam in order to be admitted to the Louisiana Bar.

Not only is our civil code system of law unique but so also is how the law is applied to asbestos victims. The Louisiana Supreme Court has said that in prosecuting asbestos cases you apply the law that was in effect at the time that the victims were exposed to asbestos. That is a critical difference from other states and requires a special knowledge of the history of Louisiana asbestos litigation.

If you or your loved one has been diagnosed with mesothelioma choose your lawyer carefully. Choose a Louisiana lawyer with experience prosecuting mesotheliomas cases in Louisiana Courtrooms.

TV ADS AND TV LAWYERS

You see them quite often. Television ads about mesothelioma which basically say that if you, or a loved one have been diagnosed with the disease you could be entitled to financial compensation. The ads urge you to call an 800 number.

Any lawyer can pay for and run a television ad trying to get mesothelioma cases but not every lawyer can prosecute and handle a mesothelioma case. In fact, most of the TV Lawyers that you see advertising for mesothelioma cases do not even handle the case themselves. They refer the case out to another trial lawyer, often from another part of the country, to handle and prosecute the case in court.

What that means is the law firm you’re calling probably won’t be the law firm or lawyer that handles your case, and worse yet, they may not even have a background in prosecuting mesothelioma cases in American courtrooms. It also means that the lawyer that is hired to prosecute your case is sharing the fees with the lawyer that runs the ad and that could mean less money for you and your family.

If you or a loved one has been diagnosed with mesothelioma choose your lawyer carefully. Don’t be misled by television advertising. Choose a lawyer and a law firm that has experience handling mesothelioma cases and a track record of success.
